Description: This file contains the seasonal means (23 years from 1979-2001) of the variables at and near the surface. Note that the U and V components of the wind are oriented with respect to GRID (not true) north. This makes it easier to plot using software, but for comparison with annual/seasonal mean U and V observations at various stations, the direction must be rotated by adding or subtracting the longitude of the gridpoint from 0 degrees (the central meridian of the Polar MM5 grid). The latitudes and longitudes of the respective gridpoints can be found in the constants file provided with separately under the "CONSTANTS" heading. Format: This file is ASCII text, with 92 each 121 x 121 grids (23 years x 4 seasons per year) Column Designations: 1. I - I value on MM5 grid 2. J - J value on MM5 grid 3. YEAR - Year over which seasonal average is taken. Note that for the DJF average, the respective year is for December (i.e., DJF 1979 = Dec 1979 + Jan 1980 + Feb 1980) 4. MONTH1 - first month used in seasonal mean 5. MONTH2 - second month used in seasonal mean 6. MONTH3 - third month used in seasonal mean 7. Surface pressure (hPa) 8. 2-meter temperature (K) 9. 2-meter relative humidity wrt water (%) 10. 10-meter U-component of wind (m/s, oriented toward GRID (not true) north) 11. 10-meter V-component of wind (m/s, oriented toward GRID (not true) north) 12. 10-meter Wind Speed (m/s) 13. Inversion strength (K)
